Hearthstone’s Assisted Living
At Hearthstone Manor, we recognize that each person is different, so we tailor our services to individual wants and needs. Each living unit has a full private bathroom that is handicapped accessible, a kitchenette with a frost-free refrigerator/freezer, sink, microwave oven, oak cabinets, a large living / sleeping area, and a large closet. All units have wall-to-wall carpeting and individually controlled heating and air conditioning. Larger units with separate living and sleeping areas are also available.

Hearthstone's Special Touch Program |

In order to meet needs that are unique to each resident, we develop a “Special Touch Care Plan.” Using this plan, we determine the amount of assistance each resident needs in different areas such as dining, housekeeping and linen service, arranging appointments, mobility, medication, care of clothing, dressing, personal hygiene, including continence care, and activities.
Hearthstone Manor’s Special Touch Care Plans also allow residents  and their families to purchase additional services for short-term needs, such as while recuperating from surgery, or for long-term increases in care needs. The higher level of care available through our Special Touch Program effectively enables Hearthstone Manor residents to obtain a complete continuum of care at Hearthstone.

Hearthstone Manor has separate facilities – Countryside in Lebanon and Garden Spot in Mount Joy -- where we provide specialized programming for residents with memory impairments caused by Alzheimer’s Disease and similar dementias. Countryside and Garden Spot offer intimate, homelike environments where residents can interact with staff in smaller groups and on a one-on-one basis. Within Countryside and Garden Spot, we emphasize redirection rather than restraint and behavior management through personalized activities.
Both units are secure in that all of the doors have silent alarms so that staff can respond to any unanticipated exit from the building. Happily, the effectiveness of our approach to dementia care has allowed us to control wandering without locking doors (although locking the units is a possibility should that be needed). In addition, Countryside’s and Garden Spot’s calm, supportive environments have enhanced the functional abilities of many of our dementia residents. Many families have reported seeing marked improvements in a loved one’s ability to interact with them after he or she moved to Hearthstone’s Countryside or Garden Spot facilities.
